Let them eat cake...

A two year old requires two birthday parties...and two cakes.

We celebrated the first party in Atlanta at a great restaraunt with my family. The second party was here at our house with close friends.

Adelaide's first cake was a strawberry short cake. Very refreshing!

The second cake Adelaide helped to bake herself (see picture below with mama's apron-she loves the pockets). We made a lemon chiffon cake in a tube pan. (I cut it in half and spread some lemon curd around) then filled the middle with chocolate covered strawberries. YUM YUM.

Two isn't so terrible after all.

HOTlanta

We had a great time visiting my family in Atlanta/Decatur, GA!! We spent one day at the zoo. My favorite was feeding the parakeets in the aviary. Adelaide says her favorite animal was the panda bear...but I think she heard her cousin Ava say that. She loves her AVA.
Adelaide liked seeing the animals, but I think she liked pushing the stroller around best of all.

More photos of our trip to come.

Big Girl Pants

Underwear is fun to wear.

Adelaide loves her big, girl pants. It's been a little over a month and we have been doing great using the potty with the occasional mishap.
(The picture on the potty, by the way, is her smiling, not her, uh, doing her business).
Does anyone in my family recognize the red, polka dotted shirt/dress? It used to be mine-or maybe my sister's. My mom saved some of my kid clothes for me.

Dancing in the bin is great fun...

Ahhh...The Great Outdoors

We took a family outing to Bald Knob in Canaan Valley-it's a great hike up the mountain with a scenic view of the valley. With the raft season starting up, it was a rare, wonderful moment to all be together doing what we love to do. Adelaide had a free ride up, but walked and rolled the whole way down.
